BE READY FOR ANY CIRCUMSTANCE
What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.
You often can't prepare for a bad situation. It comes around the corner without warning and turns the familiar structure of your life upside down. The new reality can often seem overwhelming and threatening. You cannot control anyone’s behavior but your own. Control your own reaction. However, as we've seen, your actions can influence the interaction. Keeping a cool head will help the situation.
Whatever the situation, we must remain calm. When we raise our voices, the situation will worsen. Spend some time reassuring yourself. Evaluate your own abilities. Remind yourself that you can overcome any obstacle... and then begin devising a strategy. Determine what is under your control and resolve to make changes. If you can't change the situation, perhaps you can change your attitude. Don't waste time or energy attempting to change things you can't. You cannot change others, nor can you change your past. Accept that the situation is unfair and difficult.
Even the worst situations can usually yield something positive. Consider what you might gain from surviving a difficult situation. Maybe you'll come out of it a better person, or maybe you'll learn a valuable life lesson. Whatever it is, try to see the situation as a learning opportunity. Consider that whenever a bad situation arises, a good situation will follow you.
We should behave to others as we wish them to behave to us.
